Sam Rockwell could joing the remake to 1982's "Poltergeist"

Along with Pet Semetary, 1982's Poltergeist is probably the scariest movie I've ever seen.  And for better or for worse, the classic horror film is getting a remake.

But if you're going to remake classics, it's nice to know the studio at least has the decency to get high profile talent involved.  Sam Raimi is already set to produce and Gil Kenan will direct.

Now comes news from "The Wrap" that everyman actor Sam Rockwell (The Green Mile, Moon, Ironman 2) is examining several projects on his docket and is seriously considering taking the lead male role in the film.  Rockwell would play the same role as Craig T. Nelson did thirty-one years ago, namely the head of the Freeling family.  (Although in this case the name has been changed to the Bowen's.)

Poltergeist looks to begin shooting early next year and release sometime late 2014.  In the meantime Rockwell can next be seen in the upcoming A Single Shot which opens September 20th.
