I'll be honest I thought that MacGruber was actually a pretty funny movie. I think Will Forte is a very underrated comedian and pairing him alongside Ryan Phillippe was great. For God's sake the movie started out with people singing, "MacGruber--we made a fucking movie!" Hilarious.
Well anyone hoping to see a MacGruber sequel will have to wait. Although according to Will Forte there is at least going to be a MacGruber 2 script. Forte told "CraveOnline" that the likelihood of writing a MacGruber sequel in the next six months is close to 100% but whether it gets made all depends on money.
The budget on the original film was $10 million dollars and it almost made it back domestically, so financially it's not out of the realm of possibility. I could definitely see them scaling down the budget to get the film made. If Forte and company can provide the same amount of laughs in the sequel as they did in the first film*, I'm all for it. And as for money, if the studios can cough up the cash to make garbage like Piranha 3DD, I'd hope they could find some bucks for a MacGruber sequel.
*Funniest part in the first film is easily the sounds Will Forte makes when MacGruber is having sex.
