Selena Gomez dispels rumors of her involvement in "50 Shades of Grey"
E.L. James's novel "Fifty Shades Of Grey" is blowing up the best sellers list right now, so it comes as no shock that the book is on the fast track to film production. While rumors abound as to who will play the female lead Anastasia, Disney diva Selena Gomez will most definitely NOT be filling the role.
Although the young actress recently appeared in the "Funny or Die" parody "Fifty Shades of Blue" Gomez states she has zero interest in playing the role. Often referred to as "Twihard porno fan fiction," "Fifty Shades of Grey" contains very explicit sex involving S and M. Despite the 19 year old's desire to shed her squeaky clean image (she just did a racy photoshoot in "Elle" magazine and there's a distinct lack of clothing in her upcoming film Springbreakers) Gomez feels the role would be a little over the top.
In a recent interview with MTV Gomez had the following to say about her possible involvement:
"I know I'm taking risks but I don't think I could do that...That would be a little too much for me."
Obviously I haven't read the book but I'm surprised that Angelina Jolie hasn't campaigned more for this role.*
*Apparently Ian Somerholder of "The Vampire Diaries" is heavily pursing the lead male role of Christian.
