Spielberg bows out of "American Sniper"
Man Stevie is having issues staying attached to a project lately.
After constant delays to the Robopocalypse film and finally a departure, Steven Spielberg eventually targeted American Sniper as his next directorial effort, a film based on the book by Chris Kyle. Well according to "Deadline" Spielberg has ditched this project as well.
Not only has Spielberg left the project, he's also taken his production company Dreamworks with him. This is a huge blow to the film. It's one thing to lose the director but the production company along with it? Ouch.
Currently, actor Bradley Cooper is still attached to star and produce, but I'm sure he was looking forward to working with Spielberg. I think whether or not Cooper stays is going to depend on who the producers get to replace Spielberg. And if Cooper leaves, this sucker might remain in development Hell for awhile.
While I couldn't care less about whether or not American Sniper gets made into a film, I do care about Spielberg. What's he up to? Two projects in a row? Could he just be being much more selective in his old age or perhaps he has another project hiding in the wings. Indiana Jones 5 anyone?
