Will Harrison Ford crack the whip again soon?

I’m done making comments about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  Anyone who follows this blog knows that I’ve done a 180 on it over the years.  Although many think that after the last film Indy should just be run over by a boulder, I’m up for a fifth go-round, provided it is the right story and there’s a good McGuffin.  With Harrison Ford more than likely about to head back into a galaxy far, far away as his other iconic role Han Solo, it begs the question:  Will Henry Jones Jr. don the fedora again?

Ford hopes so.

In a recent interview with “The Telegraph” Ford indicated he’s absolutely open to a fifth film.  The one thing I took away from the article was Ford saying, that based on how the character has grown and developed a fifth film doesn’t necessarily entail him, “kicking as much ass.”  I can get on board with that.  I mean every movie has a couple fight scenes in it, but you don’t go into an Indiana Jones movie thinking it’s going to be Rocky vs. Apollo Creed.  Again I couldn't care less if Indy gets into one fight as long as the story is strong.  Let Mutt do the fights.  Who cares?  (Incidentally, I still think the whole idea of going after the cross of Jesus would make a great MacGuffin.)

If this is going to happen though, they need to get a move on.  Although he’s in great shape, Ford is now seventy-one years old.  It’s only a matter time before the idea of Indy gallivanting around the world becomes completely implausible.   Honestly, I hope this gets done at some point but with Spielberg being so picky lately and George Lucas in semi-retirement the odds are long against it.

Ford can next be seen in Paranoia, which releases next Friday, and the embattled Ender’s Game on November 1st.
