WHOA. Little to no progress on Bill and Ted 3

Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey are films that helped define my childhood.  I mean come on!  Time travel in a telephone booth, George Carlin, and SO-CRATES?  Comedy and entertainment gold I say.  We’ve been hearing about a third film in the franchise for several years now with Alex Winter leading the charge.  Unfortunately for fans of the dudes from San Dimas high we might have to wait a little longer than expected.

In a recent interview with IGN Keanu Reeves, aka Ted “Theodore” Logan, stated  they are still, “waiting on the writers to come up with another draft.  But we’re very excited.”  I know this is pretty much a non-update as this really doesn’t present anything new, but at least the writers SEEM ostensibly concerned with producing a strong script.

For those of you unaware of the direction the film is going in here’s a general idea from Neo himself:

"One of the plot points is that these two people have been crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world. And they haven't done it. So everybody is kind of like: 'Where is the song?' The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock. And we go on this expedition, go into the future to find out if we wrote the song, and one future 'us; refuses to tell us, and another future 'us' blames us for their lives because we didn't write the song, so they're living this terrible life. In one version we're in jail; in another we're at some kind of highway motel and they hate us."

Sounds intriguing.  In the meantime  this film remains stuck in Development Hell with an Evil Easterbunny and Bill’s gross looking grandmother.

Keanu Reeves can next be seen in December’s 47 Ronin while Alex Winter will probably be attending a Lost Boys convention in Columbus, Ohio next month.
