Cohen Bros. to go "Gladiator"

How can you not love the Cohen brothers?  From Raising Arizona to The Big Lebowski to No Country for Old Men, they've proven time and again they are a duo to be reckoned with.  Now it looks like they may not only be taking on a period piece, but a big budget film as well.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press promoting their upcoming film Inside Lleywn Davis, Joel and Ethan Cohen revealed that they are currently writing a "sandal" picture set in ancient Rome.  They went on to say that the film would explore the "big questions" and will have zero subtext unlike their recent movie A Serious Man.

While the Cohen brothers' films certainly explore the gamut of the human condition, I can't recall them ever doing a big budget picture.  It sounds like a huge gamble that just might pay off.

Inside Lleywn Davis opens nationwide this Friday.
