'The Stand' adaptation takes another hit; latest director exits the project

Sigh.  It seems like the road to bringing Stephen King's masterpiece The Stand to the big screen is becoming more volatile than Randall Flagg's temper.

Director Scott Cooper is the latest to exit the project.  After David Yates and Ben Affleck, this now makes the third director who's left this project.  Warner Bros. and Cooper split over....wait for it..."creative differences."  Shocking.

Despite the discouraging news WB is quickly looking to replace Cooper as they are trying to fast track the film.  With a movie that's been in Development Hell so long though I'm not exactly sure what their definition of "fast" is.

While I have a special place in my heart for the 1994 ABC mini-series, I definitely think King's book deserves the big screen treatment.  And I absolutely believe it needs to be a trilogy otherwise it won't do the film justice in the least.
